About Dr Michael Bourn

Dr. Michael Bourn is a board-certified pain and palliative care specialist with years of experience in the field. In 2013, Dr. Michael Bourn was the recipient of the Specialty Preceptor of the Year award from Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, where he holds the position of medical director in the department of pain management.

Outside of his work at Doctors Hospital, Dr. Michael Bourn supports the mission of the Governor’s Cabinet Opiate Action Team, a committee dedicated to reducing the abuse of pain medication. He also serves as medical director at the Center for Symptom Relief, and educates future medical professionals as a clinical assistant professor of hospice and palliative medicine at Ohio University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. Additionally, his presentations have been included in a number of continuing medical education courses, and he has contributed a textbook chapter to Emergency Medicine Procedures.

Before beginning his medical career, Dr. Michael Bourn earned a bachelor of arts in public relations from The Ohio State University, a bachelor of science in human biology from the National University of Health Sciences, and a doctor of osteopathic medicine from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 2010, he completed a pain and palliative care fellowship at The Ohio State University.
