Outside of his work at Doctors Hospital, Dr. Michael Bourn supports the mission of the Governor’s Cabinet Opiate Action Team, a committee dedicated to reducing the abuse of pain medication. He also serves as medical director at the Center for Symptom Relief, and educates future medical professionals as a clinical assistant professor of hospice and palliative medicine at Ohio University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. Additionally, his presentations have been included in a number of continuing medical education courses, and he has contributed a textbook chapter to Emergency Medicine Procedures.
Before beginning his medical career, Dr. Michael Bourn earned a bachelor of arts in public relations from The Ohio State University, a bachelor of science in human biology from the National University of Health Sciences, and a doctor of osteopathic medicine from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 2010, he completed a pain and palliative care fellowship at The Ohio State University.
